Did a quick assessment to make sure students were ready to move on to adding fractions. Everyone had a little trouble with questions set #3 (as I suspected) and so we changed course a bit and practice simplifying. Students just needed a quick reminder and they were on their way.
Students were given a quick time to discover the missing numbers. As I walked around monitoring everyone working, I saw students who knew exactly what to put and others who were trying to develop a method that would work. We shared the correct answers and then discussed the 2 methods for determining if fractions are equivalent.
