MULTIPLYING DECIMALS ASSESSMENT + DIVIDING DECIMALS NOTES = SUPER FUN

Today in class each student was given a envelope with a decimal multiplication problem written on the outside. Inside their envelope was a word. They were not allowed to open the envelope until directed.

Students were asked to work their problem on the back of their envelope. When all students had finished hey were directed to put themselves in order from least to greatest. At this time they removed the note from their envelope and held it out. This is where I was able to assess them. If they correctly worked their problems the statement that I read aloud made sense. If there had been errors we would notice them very quickly. I was able to check and discuss errors with the few rather than grade the entire class. When the statement was complete, I recorded a short video so we could take notes.

The statement was the first set of notes for the next topic, dividing decimals by a whole number.
